Many people nowadays are getting addicted to social networking such as Facebook or Twitter. People tend to share their happy moments, even their emotional feelings, problems and wealth. Here are some social networking no-nos that you might want to avoid.
- LEGAL DOCUMENTS
May seem like a no-brainer, but you would be surprised at how many people have posted pictures of their driver’s license, passport, land titles and even bank accounts! Any personal information should be carefully kept off of the Facebook for your own safety.
2. ANNOUNCING VACATION DATES
You may trust all your Facebook friends, but that doesn’t mean someone you don’t know will not see your post. A great risk to announcing when you will be gone and how long. Many homes that are robbed get robbed while the homeowners are away on vacations.
3. MILITARY RELATED INFO
Never mention any military related info on page! Enemies of the military can report or access this information and cause a lot of trouble for your loved one. When in doubt about what’s ok to post, just ask! (they know the protocol)
4. YOUR LOCATION
I’m guilty of this as most of us are, posting your location or tagging yourself at a public place not only alert any nearby stalker or harassers, but it alerts people that you are not at home. Use your own discretion, but be cautious.
- YOUR MOTHER’S MAIDEN NAME
It may sound strange, but posting can be dangerous for you! Think about it: many emails, bank accounts or other websites with your personal info often ask the security question “What is your mother’s maiden name?”
If you post this, it becomes easier for hackers to break in and take over your personal accounts.
